I have finally caught up with my module optional readings regarding reflection and the various theories around it. I discovered this table which I found relevant to the storytelling theme I keep returning to.

It matches Moon’s levels of learning with McDrury and Alterio’s stages of learning with storytelling.

I feel that through storytelling, learning can take place in any school or any home or any culture. It is particularly relevant to areas which have limited resources, as imagination has no limit. It allows the development of language, literacy and higher order thinking skills in comprehension, analysis and reconstruction.

If I was to expand this table to include storytelling around caring for an animal it may look like this.

The storyteller has choice in the direction the learning takes place, investigating scientific, geographic, human emotions or historical details to add to and impact upon the story.
