AITSL commissioned Professor Helen Timperley, University of Auckland, to undertake the Professional Conversations and Improvement-Focused Feedback literature review to draw together national and international research in relation to conversations that support professional growth.

Our team is seeking to become more collaborative in order to effectively utilise all the knowledge and experience that we may draw on, to maximise student learning yet we seem to be listening to answer rather than listening to understand. Our principal suggested we read/view Helen Timperley's findings.
Prof. Timperley describes 5 enablers which promote effective conversations which may be adapted for all contexts.

Knowledge - develop deep knowledge of curriculum and pedagogy to maximise teaching and learning
Culture - develop a culture of inquiry and problem-solving to seek most effective practice and solve problems of practice and

Resources - use tools and expertise to help identify effective practice and relevant evidence
We have all of these enablers at our disposal so it is up to us to embrace the challenge.
