about me
SUE EM

I am primary teacher who has taught for over 30 years, in the Catholic and public systems of Queensland and NSW, Australia.

Over the course of my career I have seen school learning spaces change from shared teaching/learning spaces, to regimented chalk-and-talk pedagogy and back again.

Teaching a modern language for the past 10 years in addition to classroom teaching, has allowed me to observe many classrooms and the results of various techniques, designs and strategies.

I believe a balance of explicit teaching with the freedom of open style pedagogy encourages confidence and a higher level of engagement within the learner.

For teachers to be successful, I believe we have to constantly be learners ourselves. Sharing our successes and opening our minds to adapt to the changing world and its children is a recipe to achieve greater success in producing confident, thinking, engaged learners. Join in me in my learning journey.
